August is lavender pruning time as the flowers finish flowering.
Cut the flower stalks to the bottom of the new growth leaving a couple of new leaves. Don’t cut into the old wood though. They don’t like it!
Pruning straight after flowering helps to stop them becoming straggly too quickly. The plants will also put on a little growth before the winter which helps protect it from frost.
